The sister of the late rockstar and songwriter Prince said his fans will be able to hear some of his unreleased music, and see his handwritten lyrics, in the near future, reports The Scotsman.
The My Name Is Prince exhibition, which will run at The O2 in London for three weeks, is going to allow fans to “feel and see” him, according to The Purple One’s sister Tyka Nelson.
She also told fans that his archives of unreleased music will go public.
“I tell people if I don’t fulfill [Prince’s] wishes I don’t want to get to heaven and have him slap me,” Nelson said. “He wanted to share his music, a lot like my father. As soon as I walked in the room we’d go over to the piano or the computer and he’d go ‘I wrote a new song; listen to it.’”
Along with unreleased music, the exhibit will include hundreds of artifacts from his Paisley Park estate in Minnesota, like his instruments, flamboyant stage outfits, his diamond-studded cane, and even his handwritten lyrics.
It’s not clear if the recently discovered handwritten lyrics of a song called “Electric Rush” will be included, but any never-before-seen content from Prince is bound to be a treasure.
“You can watch him on tape but to actually see the cane that close or a guitar he had — it almost takes your breath away,” Nelson said.
The exhibit will run for exactly 21 days, commemorating the 21 sold-out concerts he had at The O2 in 2007.
All of this attention on his legacy, his things, and especially his music — it’s what he would’ve wanted. He loved the spotlight, and he wore it well.
“He always wanted people to hear his music and I definitely would not leave this planet until I made sure his music is out there,” Nelson said.
